Dreams of Poland is a photographic series that explores the ethereal landscapes of Sławno and nearby towns, through the dreamlike medium of cyanolumens. This body of work serves as a visual journey into my ancestral roots, specifically capturing the essence of my father's hometown - a place I never imagined getting a chance to visit.
The cyanolumen process, combining two old photographic processes, perfectly embodies the dreamscape quality of memory and imagination. Each image blurs the line between reality and reverie, mirroring the artist's experience of discovering a place that existed only in family lore and personal fancy.
Through this series, viewers are invited to traverse the hazy boundary between past and present, memory and discovery. The photographs capture Sławno's streets, buildings, and surrounding nature, but render them in an otherworldly glow that speaks to the surreal experience of walking in an ancestor's footsteps.
Dreams of Poland is not just a documentation of place, but a deeply personal exploration of heritage, the persistence of history, and the unexpected ways in which we can connect with our roots.
